Minseok Kang's Artistic Experiments collection is an archive of works that test the boundaries between painting and video, image and movement. Before being finished works, they are explorations of possibility — raw experiments from the stage before a new series is born.

The Speed Line series is an experimental body of work that expresses speed as line. It captures the lines of speed born from the movement of automobiles — traces of air resistance, trajectories left by time — through video and still images. Speed lines are not mere comic-book effects. For Minseok Kang, a line is time, speed is will, and its trajectory is the trace of a life lived. This work explores how lines come alive and move within the video frame rather than on canvas.

The 09 Video Series is one of the artist's video experiments, exploring how painterly images change and unfold within the flow of time. An image is not fixed but a living fragment of time, and the video is a question about what painting becomes when it begins to move.

The works in this collection are not completed series but traces of ongoing thought. They are experiments born in the process of expanding the language of original painting into new media, carrying the seeds of works yet to come.

Media Art — Virtual to Reality

A media art video capturing flat artwork created in virtual space using Oculus VR, then fabricated as physical objects and brought into reality.

Artist's Note

Kang explores invisible force through VR, a virtual space where energies imperceptible in reality finally take form. Attracting and repelling forces collide like magnets, condensing into distinct sculptural fragments — each carrying its own energy and properties. These energies distribute to shape the competing rear views of automobiles, while the convergence of opposing forces deconstructs form itself. The resulting space, saturated with countless energies, exists at the threshold between the virtual and the real.
