From March 27 to April 1, 2023, Minseok Kang's 11th invited solo exhibition, The Big Bang: Identity, was held at Polestar Art Gallery. Taking the automobile as his subject and expressing it through paint and various techniques, Kang portrays the competition with himself, holding within it many stories — the anxiety of the future, inner conflict, and the afterimage of a distant future. Twenty-five works were shown.
Through his works from 2021 to 2022, the artist expresses the darkness within as the figure of a beast. The works depict a protagonist who, in a situation of colliding with the beast's force, draws lines to awaken and tame it.
The Big Bang: Identity expresses the great explosion that occurs when the dark heart deep within the artist and the beast's force, filled with rage, collide. The works leave behind only the trace of the moment called now, and, transcending time and space, they reveal the artist's inner world and human nature.
The exhibition offered viewers a time to look upon their own inner selves and conflicts.
